About MLDM
Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage (MLDM) is a gentle and effective hands-on modality that enhances the performance of the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is a complementary system to the circulatory system and is a large network of lymphatic vessels, lymph nodes, lymph organs, and tissues. It is essentially our body’s sewage system, as its role is to remove the fluids that leak from our blood vessels. It is essential that our lymphatic system moves efficiently.

The lymphatic system does not have its own pumping system and relies on movement and deep breathing to assist with lymphatic flow. For individuals who are obese and have difficulty with regular mobility, this technique can assist with flushing out toxins and removing waste from the body. Research indicates that anyone with a BMI over 30 has a compromised lymphatic system; and therefore, would benefit from receiving manual lymphatic drainage.*

Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) is a comprehensive and effective approach used in the management of both Lipedema and Lymphedema, two distinct but often overlapping conditions characterized by abnormal accumulation of fluid in tissues. CDT involves a multi-faceted treatment plan that typically includes manual lymphatic drainage, compression therapy, exercise, and skin care. Manual lymphatic drainage, performed by certified therapists, focuses on stimulating the lymphatic system to enhance fluid drainage. Compression therapy involves the use of bandages or garments to provide external pressure, aiding in the reduction of swelling. Additionally, targeted exercises assist in promoting lymphatic flow and muscle strength. Skin care practices, such as meticulous hygiene and moisturizing, are crucial to prevent infections. CDT aims to alleviate symptoms, improve mobility, and enhance the overall quality of life for individuals affected by these chronic conditions. The personalized nature of CDT ensures that treatment plans can be tailored to the specific needs and severity of each patient's condition.
